Pure audio doesn’t really fit into the purpose of TikTok. However, that may be about to change as TikTok owner ByteDance has filed a trademark application for a new application known as “TikTok Music.” Of course, TikTok has a deep relationship with music, but it so far accompanies the visual components of the site. Filed on May 9, the trademark was filed in the United States after previously also being filed in Australia. A report from Business Insider shows that the app will allow users to download music, shares it, purchase it, and see lyrics. Users will also be able to create playlists and add cover photos. In other words, this will be a music streaming service similar to Spotify. It seems ByteDance will also add the ability to stream video content associated with the music.
Moving Forward
ByteDance has a history with music apps, running is Resso application in emerging markets such as Indonesia, India, and Brazil. The difference here is that the company is now going to use the TikTok brand to sell a music streaming service. There is currently no official word on the TikTok Music app or when it will launch. Tip of the day: With a single registry tweak, it’s possible to add a ‘Take Ownership’ button to the right-click context menu that performs all of the necessary actions for you. You’ll gain full access to all possible actions, including deletion, renaming, and more. All files and subfolders will also be under your name. The Take Ownership context menu will set the currently active user as the owner of the files, though they must also be an administrator. They can then enter the folder or modify the file as they usually would.
