Announced on March 1, Active Citizen is an immersive learning experience in Minecraft. Mojang Studios collaborates with Games for Changes and the Nobel Peace Center on the project. It is the latest in Microsoft’s efforts to use Minecraft as a force for good and for positive community. Since acquiring Mojang, Microsoft has seen Minecraft as more than just a game. As the most popular video game of all-time, it provides a platform to millions of users.
Active Citizen
Active Citizen aims to provide education on special skills that can bring positive changes in the world. It is available now through Minecraft: Education Edition. This is the special version of Minecraft that provides resources to learners and educators. “When players enter the “Active Citizen” Minecraft world, they are transported to the Nobel Peace Center in Oslo, where they meet Alfred Nobel, who left most of his fortune to establish the Nobel Prize. Players then meet four Nobel Peace Prize laureates – Malala Yousafzai, Wangari Maathai, Fridtjof Nansen and the 14th Dalai Lama – to learn about their stories and help them overcome challenges as they build peace in their local communities. The game experience concludes by calling on players to identify a local cause meaningful to them and create a unique Minecraft build that represents their vision of peace. The Nobel Peace Center will curate a museum exhibition of “Active Citizen” designs featuring contributions from players all over the world.” Tip of the day: Do you know that Windows 11 / Windows 10 allows creating PDFs from basically any app with printing support?
