For some reason, the software has been delayed. By how much depends, but it is certainly launching months behind schedule. If we look at Windows Server as a release barometer, Hyper-V Server 2019 may be as much as eight months late. Sure, Hyper-V Server is a standalone product that is free. It uses the same technology and is highly linked to Windows Server 2019, with the 2019 build arriving in a Windows Server preview last summer. Microsoft launched Window Server 2019 in general availability (GA) back in October 2018. However, the various problems that plagued Windows 10 version 1809 put back the release of Windows Server 2019 until November. Even after this hard release, Hyper-V Server 2019 was conspicuous by its absence. It has been that way since.

Still, Microsoft has not made a big deal of this launch, confirming it in a low-key tweet. Perhaps the company is slightly embarrassed by the extended delay.

Maybe, but not embarrassed enough to offer an explanation for Hyper-V Server’s delay. It is worth noting, while Microsoft confirmed the release on Monday (June 17), the launch happened on Friday (June 14). As mentioned, Hyper-V Server acts as a standalone product that comes with the Windows Server driver model Windows hypervisor. Additionally, it brings virtualization components to users as an effective and easy to use solutions.
