In PowerPoint, users can now convert their hand drawings to texts or shapes. This is an interesting addition that also supports even scribbles on the title with a pen. When drawings or shapes are inputted, PowerPoint will automatically convert the ink to text. As for Outlook mobile on Office iOS, Microsoft has added a mini calendar to the app. When you RSVP a meeting or event, the mini calendar will appear allowing faster replies. Office Version 2.19 for iOS is currently running through the Insider Program. The new features should come to all users in the next few weeks.
iPad Pro
It will be interesting to see if Microsoft advertises Office on iOS more in the coming weeks. The company may decide to add new features to capitalize on the launch of the new iPad Pro. Apple launched the device yesterday and is increasingly pushing its tablet as a laptop alternative. If that’s true, then a robust productivity capability is essential. Microsoft will want to present Office as the best choice for productivity on the new iPad Pro. Apple’s iPad Pro is certainly capable of delivering laptop-like performance. The new device comes with Apple’s A12x Bionic CPU built on 7nm manufacturing. If you are unfamiliar with the A12X, it powers the latest iPhone Xs Max and comes with 8 cores and 7-core GPU. Apple says the result will be 35% faster single core performance and 90% faster multi-core. In other words, if you are a power user coming from an older iPad, you will notice the difference. In a little nod to gamers, Apple said the processor GPU is in the same class as the GPU in the Xbox One S.
