Users are not going to get a group video calling experience they would have on other services, such as Skype. For example, the group chat function will support just seven people. It is also impossible to add a new member to the chat once the call has started. Google is also adding another useful feature to Duo, whether you’re in a group call or not. The company is working on a low light mode. As the name suggested, this ability changes the video output to allow better visuals during the night. At the moment, these features can be filed under rumor. However, they are not particularly far fetched and we expect Google to roll them out soon. Whether they come to Duo on other platforms remains to be seen. Google has sold Duo on its ease of use. A simple interface allows users to pick the app up and start using it quickly. So far it has paid off with Duo receiving good reviews on iOS and Google Play. It is unlikely to compete on an even footing with other video calling services just yet, but more features will help increase its functionality.
